This year's theme for International Women's Day is 'World Changing Women'.
We are asking you to consider 2 questions:
2. What type of world do you want women to live in and how can we achieve it?
Featuring the talented Cori Conlon, singing 'I AM WOMAN'!
Responses
I am doing something i would never normally do.
I am my own world changing Woman.
Today i will take pride in all my achievements big and small. :) The Journey from being a young single mother in a rural area was not everyday easy, I had to fight to find my own voice to help raise my son and myself (Jack is now 22 & wonderful) I have many a day questioned myself to how i got lucky, I realise i was doing the work all the way..
I now know that i have watched powerful women and have been taken under the wings of other fabulous, strong, smart, funny, caring & giving inspirational Women. If they read this i would like them to know i am so very grateful for all the energy, support , strength! oh yes and dinners, cups off tea, coffee, wine & secret recipes for keeping healthy and smiley :)
I would love for these women, myself & the daughters i raise to live in a world were we are all safe, and the young lives we raise in-front and behind us know how to be respectful, caring, helpful, fun loving, brave & powerful enough to know that we all have right to live freely, safely, walking & dancing together!! #worldchangingwoman raising children gently with enough knowledge to know equality means alot. xxxxxxxxxxx - Adiena Devlin
I want to live in a world where I can go out wearing 'that' top and not be hit on. I want to live in a world where my niece can wear a bathing suit without covering her stomach. Going outside at night without being scared would be the perfect type of world. I want kids to grow up not even knowing what gender norms are.

An equal society where no matter their gender or other things. As well as children being treated equally as they are treated differently now and can affect them later in life.

1. My world changing woman was and always will be my Granny Ada. A strong, fierce, loyal woman who treated everyone she met as equals and with kindness.
2. I want women to live a life without fear and a life full of kindness and individuality. Where they are celebrated and not judged.
We can achieved it by challenging the inequalities that all women face, and to not get complacent in the face of a very misogynistic world.

Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be my mother who has been married 3 times and never gave up on love, who single handedly raised me and my two sisters before adding our brother into the mix, while also helping look after other people's children as a childminder and now later in life helps to take care of the elderly while still having to manage and support a family of her own.
My mother is an extremely resilient woman who has never given up even during the hardest moments in life and there will never be enough words to encompass all she has achieved.
Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be my oldest sister who had a miscarriage at a young age during a toxic relationship, who tried to take her own life but then overcame her struggles, graduated university and recently got engaged to her loving partner.
Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be my second oldest sister, who had a troubled childhood and fell into the wrong crowd, she grew up to form her own personal business and formed her own path in life despite her struggles.
Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be my school counsellor, who let me pick the classes I disliked most to have my sessions during, who was always patient with me despite not really knowing what I was struggling with, who continually tried to help me even if she couldn't, she never gave up.
Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be my psychiatrist who was always calm and reassuring who supported me through all my chaotic struggles and never hesitated to help me when I needed it most, who constantly reminded me to be proud of my accomplishments.
Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be my ASD support worker who helped me overcome some of my biggest struggles in life and gave me a huge boost in needed support and stability, who directed me down the right path in finding peace and happiness, who never let me down.
Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be my keyworker who listened to me when nobody else would, who kept me calm during the hardest storms and constantly reassured me that everything would be fine.
Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be me, who was given a second chance at life and through the wonderful support of such amazing women, finally found a way to be happy and content, I reached the other side of what felt like the end and I am so greatful to myself for never giving up.
Who is a world changing woman in my life?
That would be you, Helen.
During a scary and confusing time in my life you were there to bring like minded people together in a safe and comfortable space, you helped all of us to grow in our own ways and gave us the opportunity to create wonderful memories and experiences together and for that I could never be more greatful.
There is a consistent and common theme amongst all women and that is that we simply do not give up in the face of any challenges and struggles we are put through and yet always find the strength to support all of those around us too.
I want women to be able to live in a world where their strengths are celebrated, their accomplishments are acknowledged and their opinions are respected.
I want them to be able to live happy, doing the things they love and enjoy, together.
Without oppression, without violence, without radical forced beliefs.
But most importantly, I want women to be able to live in a world that allows women, to be women and everything that encompasses, freely, globally and peacefully.
I would like to live in a world where no one gets violated and also no one is falsely accused of being a violator as it causes people to not take the victim seriously. Women should have the same opportunities as men when it comes to jobs and sports, women should also be paid equally, treated fairly and not ignored. Men need to support gender equality, I'm always learning.

I want to live in a world where my daughter can grow up and feel safe in where it doesn't matter what her name is, where she can celebrate whatever culture she chooses, whatever her gender/sexuality may be, where she can express herself without fear of ridicule. A world where she is strong and confident, where she doesn't have to worry about being hurt/ attacked on a night out or while walking home from work/school. I want a world where everyone respects and understands all our differences, where people support and care for each other without prejudice. I want a world where people don't have to fight for basic rights. I want everyone to work together to create a better world for all, where countries who have the abilities to help and support those in poverty and danger instead of being greedy. I want a world where we can live happy and free.

My mum is a world changing woman in my life, not just her love & support but her strong ethical, open- minded example of resilience and kindness.
I want women to live in a world where the leadership platform and life opportunities are equal. Women deserve to be valued, listened to and celebrated. By coming together, using a concise collective voice & empowering others we can achieve important change and decision making rights! #IWD2022

International Women's Day: A Short Her-Story....
1910 - An International Conference of Working Women took place in Copenhagen. At this meeting, the idea of an international women's day was proposed by Clara Zetkin, as a day held every year in every country meant for campaigning and rallying for women's rights. The agreement was unanimous.
1911 - The first International Women's Day was celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on March 19.
1914 - An agreement was made for International Women's Day to be celebrated on March 8 in every country, which it still is to this day.
1975 - International Women's Day was officially celebrated by the United Nations.
1996 - The United Nations announced its first annual theme for International Women's Day: 'Celebrating the Past, Planning for the Future'.
2011 - Global celebrations marked the 100th anniversary of the first International Women's Day. March 2011 was named 'Women's History Month' in the United States by President Barack Obama. In the UK and across the world, marches and demonstrations took place.
2022 - International Women's Day continues to be marked every year worldwide, as a response to the ongoing inequality and oppression of women of all walks of life, as well as a celebration of female empowerment and ability to be 'World Changing Women'.
